DELIRIOUS ESCAPE MAPS — ALDO ROSSI DREAMS OF GIZA
MATERIAL: PRINTED SILK
DIMENSIONS: 45X45CM (SMALL) / 90X90CM (LARGE)
During World War II, the United States and Great Britian produced escape silk maps for servicemembers to be used and worn when caught behind enemy lines. These maps needed to be durable, able to withstand tearing and dissolving from water, all while being malleable, and handier for manipulation and smuggling than paper. They figured the best way was to wear it in the form of a silk 90x90cm handkerchief.
The Delirious Escape Maps redraw lost and utopic cities to portray their ever-lasting nature and beautiful imagery, by recreating grand architecture examples in silk in the form of an escape map for you to enjoy reading (and wearing!) them.
